What To Expect In A Reflexology Treatment And You Will Experience

There is an ocean of difference between a simple reflexology session and a reflexology treatment. When you say that you have a session with the therapist today, this means that your interaction with the practitioner will only lasts from 30 to 60 minutes. And that the therapist will generally work on the feet and the hands, and normally he will apply pressure on these areas.

No reflexology treatment is another thing. When you say that you will undergo treatment, then this means that your practitioner will incorporate a number of techniques. And that the sessions will cover all the points in the feet and the hands. There will be times wherein points in ears will be tackled as well.

How does the reflexology treatment starts

As with any session associated with reflexology, it will always start with the fingers and the toes. And the practitioner works on the heel then the sides and top will be covered as well. The idea in addressing all points is that the intent of the practitioner is to cover all the internal organs. And this will also include muscle groups and the bones.

As the therapy session progresses, there will come a point when the practitioner will come across 'tightness.' When this is evident, the therapist will normally apply pressure on that affected area so that the body can revert back to its normal state. Another concern that may be met during the sessions is pain. If the person complains of pain during the therapy, then the therapist will work on the area in order to un-do the pain.

What are the common experiences during treatment sessions?

There is a wide range of feelings and emotions that can be felt if someone undergoes reflexology treatment sessions. The most common is pain and this can be expected. But other than this, there is a host of feelings, experiences and emotions that are often reported by the participants and patients. For example there is a set of patients that will tell of the feeling of lightness or that feeling of warmth every time they are under the therapy sessions. Or the more imaginative patients, they would often report that feeling of being open- as if there is energy movement. And that they can sense that the energy is flowing and moving from one of their organ to the next!

And for many, they often report that they feel a host of reactions. Some of these reactions include perspiration on the feet and the hands, feeling of cold or chilled and sometimes crying. Others report that they have that strong desire to laugh, cry or even sleep. There are those patients that report that after they receive the therapies or on the process of being massage, they feel that the muscles start to relax. And they also add that their feeling of pain and discomfort in many parts of their bodies has evaporated.

These reactions and feelings are best understood early on so that the moment you get into one of these sessions, you will no longer be surprised at what you are feeling.
